Plantation Tours
Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation is pleased to offer the James River Plantation Progressive Tour. This two-hour experience is offered on select Saturdays and may be arranged for groups of ten more on other days.
The James River Plantation Progressive Tour includes interior visits to Piney Grove-1790, Ashland-1835 and Ladysmith-1857, as well as exterior visits to Duck Church-1917, Dower Quarter-1830, Lanexa Farm Stand and Harwood Family Cemetery. The in-depth tour focuses on the history and architecture of the buildings, as well as the history of the entire James River Plantation country. All tours are provided by the Piney Grove Foundation (501c3).
The gardens and grounds are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a self-guided tour. Admission is $3 per person. Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation is a Virginia Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property is also an official site of the Virginia Civil War Trails and Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail, and is included in the James River National Register Travel Itinerary.

RESERVATION AND CANCELLATION POLICIES
Advance reservations are required. Pre-payments are non-refundable, although tickets are transferable.
We thank you for your consideration and understanding of our reservation and cancellation policies: They insure that the limited number of tour spaces at Piney Grove are actually enjoyed by guests, rather than remaining vacant. Reserving for a tour is like booking for a theater production or concert: Once you place the reservation, you have made the committment to attend. Tours are cancelled only in the most unusual circumstances.
